The first, Plastic Problems: China changes hit recyclers hard in Southern Illinois, discusses the impact of China’s “foreign garbage” ban on recyclers in the region.

The second, In rural Southern Illinois, recycling lags. But it’s growing, details how Illinois’ statewide recycling program, established in 1989, has played out in Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Perry and Williamson counties.
