Energy efficiency is a valuable resource that achieves low-cost, multipollutant reductions in states across the country. However, while state air regulators can rely on energy efficiency to meet specific pollutant reductions required under the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), many states are missing out on this opportunity.
On Thursday, April 19, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) will release a new report, Mission Attainment: Incorporating Pollution Reductions from Energy Efficiency in State Implementation Plans. The report uses a publicly available screening model to identify where energy efficiency can deliver the greatest pollution reductions to help states to comply with federal air quality regulations.
The webinar will feature an overview of the analysis and report findings, a discussion of the tools available to states for incorporating energy efficiency in SIPs, and additional areas beyond NAAQS where energy efficiency can help states to meet air quality goals.
- Speakers will include:
Cassandra Kubes, lead author of Mission Attainment, and Senior Research Analyst, Health and Environment, ACEEE
- Robyn DeYoung, Environmental Specialist, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
- Nancy Seidman, Senior Advisor, Regulatory Assistance Project
